Симеон Коляндов

Abstract: The article seeks to answer how a city becomes smart, what are the necessary conditions for doing so. Many cities, institutions and organizations are already trying to create guidelines for this. According to the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the development of smart cities has to cover three phases. In the strategic phase, municipalities should learn to create priorities, roadmaps and ways to assess their progress. In the practical phase, they must be able to implement "smart" projects according to best practices. And in the last, technical phase, city management must also take into account the technological requirements so cities to be really ready to face the future. The article tracks and explains IoT because all of this progress would not have been possible without the hard work of specialists on Internet of things, with help of which various devices can be connected to a common network and execute commands from all parts of the planet.

Key words: Smart City, Internet of Things, Urban Planning.
